DARCY DAVIDOW It is with great sadness that the family announces the tragic passing of Darcy who was taken from us on July 7, 2009 in a single vehicle accident. He is survived by his children Ashley, Rylie, and Chelsea, his partner Christine Berard, his father Melvin (Cheryl), his mother Christine (nee Imlah) Kowalchuk (Jack), his siblings Melody (Darryl), Teresa (Kerr), Natalie Alexander, Zachary, and Tiffany (Andrew), nieces Jaimie and Savannah, nephew Dylan, grandparents Roy and Simone Imlah and Steve Kowalchuk, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends old and new. Darcy was born on January 14, 1973 at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg. From an early age he exhibited artistic and orderly tendencies which was evident in his art, his trumpet playing, and in later life, his guitar. Winter included hockey, hockey and hockey. Summer included baseball, camping and fishing. Darcy supported the Heart and Stroke Foundation by participating in the Strong Man curling bonspiel for the last several years. Darcy graduated from the Fisher Branch Collegiate Institute in 1991 and was responsible for establishing the first Safe Grad held in the community. He then embarked on his chosen career in the Culinary Arts at RRCC where he attained his cooking certificate. After receiving several exciting job offers, Darcy decided that the hours required weren't going to fit in with his social activities and so went to work for Sonoco, where he was employed for 16 years. Recently, Darcy decided to take a leap of faith and entered a ten week (unpaid) course in the corrections field which led to a new and much loved career as a Corrections Officer at Milner Ridge. Darcy had a mischievous streak which was apparent in the many practical jokes and covert plans he executed over the years. Darcy was full of energy and was the life of the party wherever he went. He was always considerate of others and made sure that both young and old were having a good time. His unique style, friendly manner, and loving heart will remain with us all forever. A celebration of Darcy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Brokenhead River Recreational Complex at 320 Veterans Lane off James Avenue. Father Owen Steeves will officiate and the service will conclude at the hall. The viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East in Beausejour, Manitoba from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A family interment will be held at a later date. Pallbearers are Darcy Gauthier, Kelly Groening, Darryl Helgason, Cory Hibbert, Zachary Kowalchuk, Rob McLauchlan, and Derek Pearase. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund is being set up for the children.
