Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA HAZEL ERICA LOVE HUDSON (nee ROLSTON) November 14, 1917 July 7, 2009 On July 7, 2009, after a lengthy illness, at the Kildonan Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, Hazel, age 91 years, surrounded by family and friends, was Promoted to Glory . Hazel was born in Shaunovan, SK on November 14, 1917. She resided there until she went to work at the Salvation Army Sunshine Home in Winnipeg. Later, she moved to Kenora, ON, where she met Henry Hudson. They were married on April 15, 1938 and they had forty wonderful years together. Hazel spent most of her time caring for their six children, but she would assist Henry with his decorating business and caretaking duties. After Henry's death, in 1978, she worked at the Winnipeg Winter Club until her retirement. Hazel was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army. She first attended the Winnipeg Citadel then, the Ellice Avenue Corps, the Hampton Citadel and the Heritage Park Temple. She was an active member of the Ladies Home League. Hazel loved to sing. She first sang with her sisters on the radio. When she last sang a solo, at the age of 89, the entire congregation was moved by her sincere rendition of I Want to Say Yes'. Hazel leaves to mourn her passing, son Lorne Hudson and daughter- in-law Lois of Winnipeg; daughter Amanda Dawn Kuusselka and son-in-law Anders of Gimli; grandchildren, Carlene Hudson; Lianna Hudson; Wade Hudson and wife Rachel; Rick Middleton and wife Donna; Judy Gillespie and husband Brian; Sherri Hanton; David Kuusselka and fiancée Tania Erickson; Christopher Kuusselka and Nicole Allen; Tiffany Kuusselka Pidruchny and husband Craig; 16 great grandchildren; sister Iris Favreau of Kenora; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Henry; daughters Sandra, Sheryl, Donna and Lynne; grandson Joshua and great-grandchildren Dominique and Danielle; brothers Harry Rolston, Cyril Dadswell, Victor Dadswell, Lorne Rolston and sisters Joyce Rolston and Viola Bynski. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the Heritage Park Temple 825 School Road, Winnipeg, MB with Major and Mrs. Brian Slous officiating. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Home for their care of Hazel over the past year.
