LILY WADE (nee SOKOLOSKI) 1924 - 2009 It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, amma, grans, sister, auntie, and friend on July 7, 2009. Lily was born on September 5, 1924 in Walkleyburg, MB. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Wade; parents John and Laura Sokolowski; uncle Hully Thorarinson; brother Arthur Sokolowski; brother-in-law James Dobson; sister-in-law Adeline Sokolowski and nephew Ronald Sokolowski. She will always be loved and remembered by her daughter Colleen; son-in-law Randy Alleyne; her three precious grandsons Randie (RJ), Cory and Nicholas; her son Leslie; her sisters Anna (Toots) Sokolowski and Margaret Dobson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Lily was raised on the family farm in Walkleyburg, MB. In September 1950 Lily married Walter Wade and moved to Selkirk where they raised their family until his untimely passing in December 1952. In 1963 Lily started working at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre where she worked her way up to a Cook 1. After her retirement in 1984 Lily traveled with family and met many new friends on excursions to Barbados, Nashville, Branson, California, and numerous other locations. Respecting Lily's wishes cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Heartfelt thanks from the family to Dr. Lindenschmidt, Dr. Demsas, the staff at Selkirk and District General Hospital, and Manitoba Homecare for their kindness and compassion. A special thank you to family and friends who offered their love and support. In lieu of flowers donations in Lily's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, or Selkirk and District General Hospital Palliative Care Unit. If tears could build a stairway, And memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven And bring you home again. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
