Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTOPHER WARREN SHAW June 16, 1957 - July 6, 2009 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Christopher Warren Shaw, at his home on Monday, July 6, 2009. Survived by his loving daughter Brittany, step-daughter Devon Searle, and their mother Jan Searle. Also survived by his sister Bev Shaw, her partner Yuri Korchynski, and their daughters Nali and Lasha in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Remembered by his special friend Bonnie Steinman and his many friends and colleagues within the theatre communities of Stratford and Winnipeg. Chris was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, son of the late Clare and Martha Shaw. He grew up in Winnipeg, where he began his career working as a sound technician for The Royal Winnipeg Ballet. He came to Stratford in 1983 and assumed the position of Head of Sound at the Avon Theatre. In the twenty-six years that followed, Chris on over seventy productions for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. He played a major role in the renovations of the Avon Theatre and was instrumental in bringing huge advances to the Festival by pushing for new state-of-the-art technology. Chris was dearly loved by cast and crew alike. Chris was actively involved in music all of his life. Music was his passion. He loved his piano and had an extensive keyboard collection as well. Chris was also a long-time member of the rock and roll band The Casualty Rockers. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. A reception will follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations will be gratefully accepted for the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada or the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario through the funeral home. www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com I can see for miles and miles and miles
