MARGARET JANE LAVALLEE (NANNY) Peacefully, on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Portage la Prairie, MB, Margaret Lavallee, beloved widow of the late Frank Lavallee, passed away at the age of 92 years. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church, St. Ambroise, MB, with the Reverend Father Eric Giddins celebrant. The funeral service will follow at 11:15 a.m. Margaret was born on August 28, 1916, daughter of William and Elizabeth Birston at Bonnie Doon, MB, where she was raised and received her education. In 1933, she married Frank Lavallee and they made their home in St. Ambroise. They raised six children. She was employed as a cook for fifty years at Sports Afield Lodge at St. Ambroise with Jimmy and Clara Robinson and then with the Wallin family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially baking bread, pies and butter tarts. Later she enjoyed playing bingo and listening to music. Her special times were spent cooking for festive holidays for her family and grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Frank (1987), two daughters Christine (1959) and Leatrice (2005) and great granddaughter Lindsey (2005), three sons-in-law: Emil Lamirande, Bill Miller and Ralph Ducharme, she leaves to mourn her passing one son Larry (Lorrie) of St. Vital, three daughters Mary Lamirande, Dorothy Miller, both of St. Ambroise and Joyce (Tom) Ramsey of Regina; grandchildren Gary (Tracy), Donna (Charlie), Phil (Claudia), Stephanie (Angelo), Kristina (James), Melissa (Ronaldo), Lesley (Rod) and Courtney (Ian); Great grandchildren Crystal, Ronnie, Damon, Kayla, Dorion, Luca and Sophie. Also surviving are brothers Bill Birston and Harry (Marlene) Birston all of Portage la Prairie and sister, Verley Vivier of Winnipeg; three sisters-in-law, Aurice Tessier, Myrtle Lavallee and Theresa Lavallee; and several nieces and nephews.   • Margaret Lavallee was my great grand mother. Everyone called her (Nan) he enjoyed Baking and cooking the most she had the best Home made bread and butter Tarts! She was so kind and sweet our Family misses her dearly we love her and she will always be in our heart's. I'll we meet again .
