CHUCK FRY (I'm Moving On) Chuck (Charles Henry) Fry died peacefully early Saturday morning, July 11, 2009, at the age of 78. His beloved daughter Michelle, his parents and his sister Hazel predeceased him. Chuck is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughter Kelley, his sons, Cameron (Gail) and Jason (Michelle), his seven grandchildren Connor, Evan, Andrea, Corrina, Simone, Megan and Lucas; his sister Claire (Jack); sister-in-law Doreen and his eight nephews. Through his working life, Chuck was a master plumber and later worked for the Government of Saskatchewan. In Manitoba, he worked for plumbing, heating and air-conditioning systems companies in the agricultural industry and retired from B.A. Robinson in 1994. Chuck enjoyed and participated in many interests including the arts and sports. He loved classical music, opera and theatre. He was a founding member of the Regina Theatre for Children. His love of sports lead him to play soccer, English rugger and cricket and to enjoy curling, bowling and especially golf with his Nonsuch buddies. In 2006, Chuck and his teammates were +55 Triples Team National Bowling Champions. Through the years he also volunteered his time in Track and Field and was honoured to participate in the 1999 Pan Am Games as an Official Timer. After his family, his great passion was canoeing and exploring Canada's lakes and rivers. In 1956, he set off with his great friend, Peter Whitehead, on the first of many canoe trips, paddling the Saskatchewan rivers from Saskatoon to Nipawin. This trip lead to the eventual founding of the Historic Trails Canoe Club with his friends, Peter Whitehead, Clive Lodge, Marcel d La Forest, Brian Carr and Jim Lines. Over the years, not only did members of the Canoe Club travel many historic voyageur routes through the rivers and lakes, but, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan government, they marked them with Cairns that are still there today and can be found on official maps. Chuck loved his family deeply, took great delight in his children and grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. Chuck's wish is to be returned to the waters he loved so much, to join his friends, Clive, Marcel and Jim, scattered across Otter Rapids on the Churchill River. Cremation has taken place. A Wake will be celebrated from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18 at the Tuxedo Golf Club, 400 Shaftesbury Road, where Chuck teed-off at 6:00 a.m. every Sunday morning for 20 years. Chuck wishes to buy the last round for his friends and family, so please join us for a story and a laugh...
