JULIE KROWIAK 1907 - 2009 On July 11 2009, our mother, Julie Krowiak, nee Wasney, was granted her wish to leave and passed peacefully at the Maples Personal Care Home. She was 102 and, to the end, was still the centre of her family with daily phone contact with daughter Gloria Priess and son Kasmir Krowiak. Julie's family visited regularly showing their love by joining Julie at Christmas and birthday celebrations - the last to celebrate her 102nd on February 16, 2009. Julie was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Helen Tanner in 2004 and beloved husband of 47 years, Joseph in 1972. Mourning her with loving tears are son Kasmir, his wife, Chris, and daughter Gloria and husband Ernest Priess. seven grandchildren, Marcel Hamel (Chandelle) Alan Krowiak, Margie (John Lovell), George Tanner (Judy), Kathy (Ian Stevenson), Davie Tanner (Jodi) and Lori Tanner, and their families which include 14 great-grandchildren. Julie was born at Garson, MB, February 16, 1907. She was one of 13 children, all except sister, Anne Rostecki, are now deceased. She was honoured on her 100th birthday with messages from HRH Queen Elizabeth, Governor General Michaelle Jean, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Lieutenant Governor John Harvard, Premier Gary Doer, Mayor Sam Katz and others. More than 50 persons attended the celebration at the Maples Home including Msgr Stan Jaworski who led the family in prayers of thanks and blessed the occasion. To her family and many friends she gave an open heart and a listening ear. To all she was a shining example of courage, determination and faith. We will all miss her dearly. Julie lived for 64 years, until 2006, at 667 Anderson Avenue. Julie was a member of the St. John Cantius church where she served for many years as a volunteer. She was a dear friend of Rev. Henryk Laciak who visited her regularly providing spiritual comfort. Our thanks to all the doctors and caregivers at the Maples Personal Care Home who showed compassion and respected her dignity for the past three years. A celebration of her life will be held at a memorial service at the Glen Eden Funeral Home on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Henryk Laciak, Julie's longtime friend and spiritual mentor, officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Julie's memory may be forwarded in her name to The Winnipeg Humane Society.
