Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN AMELIA HUNT Comfortably and peacefully, in the company of family, Kay Hunt, age 92, passed away on Saturday evening, July 11, 2009 at Tuxedo Villa, her home' for the last six years. Left to mourn are her children Dale (Dorothy), Lynn (Bob), Joel (Tania), grandchildren Jeffrey in Toronto, Cynthia and Pamela in Montreal, Robin and Patrick in Medicine Hat and Richard in Winnipeg, 12 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Anne Henning-Richardson. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Margaret Henning, brother Ivan and husband Orm. Kay was born in Portage la Prairie on April 5, 1917. She worked on the farm as a young girl, developing characteristics of discipline, hard work, patience, perseverance and respect that were to become part of her personality. Along with her love, guidance and smiling face, they were her lasting legacy to family and friends. By 1939, she had moved to Winnipeg, met and married Orm. They raised the family through trying times, and gradually were able to move to their own home in 1948, where they comfortably settled for almost 30 years. She worked for many years for CNIB, applying her cooking and outgoing nature managing their cafeteria activities in Winnipeg, retiring in 1983. After Orm died suddenly in 1979, Kay continued life energetically for another 25 years. She was a lifelong gardener, and particularly enjoyed the outdoors, time at the lake, bowling, the occasional casino visit, Christmas morning Caesars and freshly-caught pickerel. Kay suffered a stroke in 2003, and although losing mobility and independence, her smile and understanding always welcomed family and friends when visiting. The family wishes to thank the very caring efforts of Carole and Glen Miller, caregiver Lynn Cunningham, Drs. Cavers and Penner and Shannon Cruikshank at Victoria General Hospital, the entire staff at the Stroke Recovery Unit at Deer Lodge, Dr. Burke and staff at Tuxedo Villa, especially Joyce Gordon, Sue Kelly, Marcia Schellenburg, Gil Bernardo, Diep Phan and Denise. In lieu of flowers and cards, donations in Kay's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice. Service and interment will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
