Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA D'AMICO April 25, 1915 - July 11, 2009 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Saturday July 11, 2009 at the remarkable age of 94. With her devoted family by her side, Maria peacefully completed her journey on earth, embracing the call to her final resting place with our Lord. Her life was celebrated by her daughters Concetta D'Amico-Scerbo and Giovanna with husband Antonio Cianflone, along with her grandchildren Charlie and Joanne Scerbo, Connie and Jim Yunyk, Gennaro and Maddalena Scerbo, Vince and Anna Scerbo, Francesco Cianflone, Stella and Domenico Mazza, and Gennaro and Theresa Cianflone. Maria was also cherished by her many great-grandchildren Johnathan, Katrina with fiancé Jesse, Larissa, Mercedes, Tony, Spencer, Antonio, Daniella, Nina, Christian, Marco, Raffaele, Senna, Giovanna, Gennaro, Ava, Gennaro, and Ema. Also mourning her loss are many nieces, nephews and friends. Maria was born April 25, 1915 in the small village of Amato in southern Italy. Among the many gifts and passions nurtured at a very young age, Maria was noted for her gardening, sewing, crocheting, embroidery, cooking and baking skills, which years later were enjoyed at many family celebrations. She married her soulmate Gennaro and together immigrated to Winnipeg in 1956 where they established their new roots, working for many years as a seamstress for Sterling Stall Clothiers. Maria experienced many challenges in her life. Orphaned as a young child, widowed in 1979, predeceased by her brother Tommaso D'Amico and son-in-law Vincenzo Scerbo along with many other family members, Maria consistently demonstrated great strength and deep faith when dealing with life's difficulties. Prayers for Maria will take place on Tuesday July 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Ave. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Reverend Father Sam Argenziano on Wednesday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, entombment to follow at Garden Chapel Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. Pallbearers include grandsons and great- grandsons Charlie, Jim, Domenico, Gennaro, Francesco, Gennaro, Vince, Johnathan, Jesse, Tony, and Antonio. Honourary pallbearers are her nephews Domenico D'Amico, Gabriele D'Amico, Domenico Caliguiri, and Alfredo Cantafio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Rosary Parish in memory of Maria D'Amico. The family would like to express their gratitude to Anna Bragg for her constant daily care at Villa Cabrini over the past year as well as the exceptional medical team at St. Boniface Hospital.
