PETER ERNEST DOERKSEN March 13, 1941 - June 27, 2009 Peacefully, on Saturday, June 27, 2009, surrounded by his children, Peter Doerksen passed away at the age of 68 years. Peter was born in Steinbach and spent most of his life in Winnipeg. He was married to Helen (Pascal) for 40 years and they were blessed with four children and 13 grandchildren. Peter retired from Winnipeg Hydro in 1996 and spent his retirement enjoying his family, golfing and doing carpentry work. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and John; his sisters, Sally, Margaret and Mary, and nephews, Daniel and Darren. Left to cherish his memory are Helen; children, Peter, Eric, April (Dan), and Denise (Courtney); 13 grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his loving companion, Doreen. The family would like to thank the staff, doctors and nurses at CancerCare Manitoba, WCB, We Care (Liza and Angelita), and the Health Sciences Centre, as well as family and friends for all their support and help through this difficult time. Funeral services will be held at the Cross Church, Logan Ave. at Keewatin St. on Friday, July 3 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery.
