Date of Passing: Jul 14, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD LLOYD MARSCH Goodbye my family and friends. Peacefully on July 14, 2009 I have left this world. Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife Isobel, children Dennis (Ellie), Donna (Al), Kathy (Rick), Gordon (Darlene), ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Don was born in Carman in 1929. He was one of eight boys and four girls. He began working for Manitoba Telephone System in 1948 until 1976. He retired from MTS after nearly 30 years of service to continue his farming activities. Don became Councillor for Ward 5 in the R.M. of St. Clements in 1973 until 1983 serving his community which he enjoyed immensely and found extremely rewarding. Later in his life he enjoyed gardening and planting trees. He took great pride in his yard and the vegetables he grew. Don was a member of the Court Manitoba #302 Canadian Order of Foresters and on July 1, 1967 was awarded the Centennial Medal recognizing him for his volunteer work with the foresters. An evening memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations in Don's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
