Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN VALDIMAR BESSASON August 18, 1943 July 10, 2009 Peacefully at home, Stef passed away with his wife Daveena (44 years) by his side. Left to cherish his memory, daughter Dawn (Shane), son David (Sina), his three beautiful grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Kristina, sister Margaret (Tom) Malis, nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Carl (Carol) Pearson. Stef worked for 20 years at the Griffith Mine in Ear Falls, ON. When the mine closed down, they purchased the Altona Motor Hotel and later the St. Norbert Hotel. Retirement came in 2000 and then it was winters in beautiful Mexico till Stef took ill in spring 2008 with COPD. Stef had a special relationship with Larry and Audrey Woycheshen, Dave and Deb Cherniak, Don Glowa who spent many, many hours with Stef. THANK YOU! In keeping with Stef's wishes there will be no formal service. Friends and family are invited to a drop in at his home this Saturday, July 18 for refreshments and old time stories from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Children's Wish Foundation. A wonderful man the world lost. I remember all the laughs and quirky things Stef used to talk about. From the "trappings" in his backyard to the crazy haircut he insisted on having for years. My favorite story is when he requested that I go shopping for Daveena for Christmas. Daveena received a beautiful gold necklace and earrings and was floored at what good taste Stef had developed. Sorry old boy -the cat is finally out of the bag.
