Born: Dec 01, 1993
Date of Passing: Jul 14, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER KOHA CUDDY December 1, 1993 - July 14, 2009 It is with profound sorrow that Garth and Pat Cuddy announce the untimely passing of their son. After a brief stay in Children's Hospital, Alexander left this world with his mom and dad at his side. Alexander was predeceased by his grandfathers, Gidi Antoniw, Grampa Cuddy; his uncle, David Antoniw; and his aunt, Beth Cuddy. Left to cherish the memory of Alexander's life are his parents, Garth and Pat Cuddy; grandmothers Caroline Baba Antoniw; Isobel Gramma Cuddy; uncles, aunts and cousins: Wayne and Cathy Muir and son Nathan, Johann Antoniw and Toni Falloon; Craig and Donna Cuddy and children Matthew and Andrew; Stuart Cuddy and Brenda Laudin and children Nathan and Kyra; Brian Cuddy and Leanna Thompson Cuddy and son Thomas; Jennifer Cuddy and Eric Kuch. Alexander was born in Winnipeg and raised in Sanford. An only child, Alexander was an extremely bright and precocious child right from an early age. He was a thinker and constantly questioning. In fact, when he was little, he often started his sentences with What if . . .? And that didn't change with the years. He was a very mature young man with an eye to the world around him. He loved to travel with his mom and dad and had already visited many parts of the world. He was also a very social person, outgoing, funny, charming, with an infectious smile. He excelled at school and took part in several activities: Scouts, swimming, soccer, baseball, hockey, and band. Like most teenagers he was always on the computer researching something or other, chatting with friends, or playing his video games. He loved spending hours on-line and outdoors with his buddies participating in Airsoft. Alexander particularly enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Sioux Narrows. It was, however, Air Cadets that became, for Alexander, the most important activity. He loved what Cadets represented; the camaraderie, the camps, and the uniform. In fact, the day of his admission to the hospital he was to leave for a six-week Survival Instructor Course in Cold Lake, Alberta. Alexander's dream was to become a pilot and the Cadet program was allowing him to make his dream come true. The family would like to thank the staff at Emergency and especially PICU at the Children's Hospital. A special thanks to Joseph. Your care and compassion helped us through an extremely difficult time. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A celebration of Alexander's life will take place on Wednesday, July 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to either The Alexander Cuddy Memorial Fund, in care of Steinbach Credit Union at 2100 McGillivray (Corner of Kenaston and McGillivray), account is set up under 191 RCACS Parent Association # 200205048319, or to The Children's Hospital Foundation CE501, 840 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3A-1S1. Alexander was conceived while his mom and dad were in New Zealand. His middle name, Koha, means gift in Maori; and indeed, his life has been a gift to all who knew and loved him. Even in death, Alexander continued to give to others as a donor to Transplant Manitoba Gift of Life. Thomson In the ParK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
