JOHN BERT RIDING Peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Red River Place at the age of 75. Besides his wife Albina, John leaves to mourn his children, Rick (Cindy), Lori (Ernie), Mark (Mariane) and Cindy; grandchildren Nicole (Tim), Ehren, Stacey, Alicia, Lindsay, Jake and great-grandson Blake; sisters Lil, Marianne (Glen), and brother George (Emily). John was predeceased by his parents Bert and Alice Riding, grandson Adam Riding, brothers Bob (Lois) Riding, Jim Riding, sister May (Harry) Park, and brother-in-law, Duke Devisscher. John left the family farm in Lake Francis for a job at CN Rail. He met and married Albina in 1957. They purchased a farm with his brother Jim until starting his own trucking company. They moved to Dufrense until 1964 when they purchased their own dairy farm in Petersfield. He semi-retired to Selkirk in 1981 where he worked for Moars and TNT Plumbing. John fully retired in 1995 where he enjoying travelling with family and socializing with old friends. During his final weeks, John enjoyed attending the wedding of his granddaughter Nicole (Tim). A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
