IAN RICHARD GRAY June 16, 1954 July 22, 2009 It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Gray. Left to cherish his loving memory are his wife of 31 years Patty, two daughters Tricia and Diana (Jeff), five sons Richard, David, William, John and Colin, his mother Kay, sister Sheila, brother Kevin (Jayne) as well as many friends and extended family. Ian will join his father Bill and brother David in heaven. Ian was born in Uranium City, SK and was raised in Battleford, SK. Ian attended school in the Battlefords and continued his education to become a CMA. He had a rewarding 32 year career with the Canadian Revenue Agency, started in Edmonton and took him to Winnipeg, Regina, St. John's, Saskatoon and finally back to Winnipeg where he retired as the Director of Winnipeg Tax Center, touching countless lives. Above all, Ian was committed to his family as a loving husband and father. He was always able to make time to support his children in their academic and athletic pursuits. Ian enjoyed working outdoors and had a remarkable ability to see the value in every object. This attitude with his projects also translated into his love for people, as he was always able to see the potential inside each individual. Ian was genuinely interested in people, kind and self-effacing, sincere and compassionate, with a wicked sense of humor and a great laugh. The family wishes to express sincere thanks for the excellent care from the doctors, nurses, Palliative Care, and friends who have helped during this difficult time. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 847 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, MB and will be presided by Father Fred Olds. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Patty, while we never met, I was a colleague of Ian's while he was in St. John's. We shared a few good times together and I will never forget his infectious laugh. While it is so sad to lose someone so young, many can live on this earth for long years and never add nearly as much as Ian did to his family and colleagues. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies. - Posted by: Jack Guiney (Co-Worker) on: Jul 26, 2009
