RUTH ISABELLA SLATER (nee TAYLOR) February 26, 1921 - July 23, 2009 Peacefully, on Thursday July 23, 2009 Ruth Slater passed away at her residence at Hilltop Manor in Stony Mountain. Left to cherish her memory are her children Doug Taylor, Maureen (Nelson) Capuska, Marjorie (Charlie) Amy, Linda Slater, Georgina (Larry) Jones; grandchildren Sandra, Sherry; sisters-in-law Linda Taylor and Dorothy Slater; brother-in-law Gordon Reid; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband William (George) Slater in 1955; parents Theodore and Marjorie Ellen (nee McEwen) Taylor; her brother Gordon Taylor in 2000; also brothers-in-law Frank, Robert, Eddie and Charlie; and sisters-in-law, Mary (Christina) and Elsie. Ruth was born and raised in Stonewall. On October 28, 1944 she married William George Slater and moved to Teulon. She moved to Hilltop Manor in Stony Mountain in 1998 where she resided until her passing. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27 at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Windsor Cemetery. Rev. Leonard Oracheski will officiate. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
