WALTER (WALLY) JACOB LOEWEN January 30, 1944 July 24, 2009 It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the too soon passing of Wally Loewen. Wally was born January 30, 1944 to John and Betty (Funk) Loewen of New Bothwell, MB. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Eleanor (Scheer), daughters Shawna Taubner (Tom), grandson Stephen, and Julaine Loewen, sisters Alice Greening (Edwin) of Airdrie, AB, Grace Scarbrough (Rob) of Thunder Bay, ON, brother Ed Loewen (Ellie) of Steinbach and their families as well as extended family. The majority of Wally's life was in the automotive business, either as a mechanic, teaching automotive or in later years his own repair and sales business. His interest in automotive led him to volunteer at the Austin Agricultural Museum, working in old equipment and leading the parade at the Threshermen's Reunion with the auxillary float for many years. Wally's occupation and volunteer work brought him in contact with many people from all walks of life. He touched many lives and hearts. Thank you to Dr. Mark Duerksen and the staff and volunteers at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach for their many hours of care. Friends may view on Monday, July 27 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Avenue, Winnipeg. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 28 at 1:30 p.m., also at the church with Pastors Harold Borchardt and Dan Abraham officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg. Donations in memory of Wally may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or The Palliative Care Volunteer Program, South Eastman Health Association, Steinbach.
