ALEXANDER JAMES WILLIM Alexander James Willim, at age 85, passed away peacefully with family at his side, on July 24, 2009. He was predeceased by brother Alexander, sister Rose, brother John, sister Emilie, and daughter Mary (at birth). Dad will always be loved and missed by his wife Gladys, sister Irene and nine children: Gail, Alex (Cheryl), Colleen (Bob), Neil (Tanya), Wayne (Val), Darrell (Kim), Sandra (Gord), Leah (Tim), and Shawn (Simone), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. Dad was fortunate to have had both. He was a devoted husband to Gladys and father to five girls and five boys and an ever growing flock of grandchildren. He spent the most of his working life at North American Lumber. He supported his large family with long work hours and his children never did without. He enjoyed his leisure time at the cottage in Ingolf, Ontario with family and friends and lived to relax and absorb the nature around him. Dad was of Hungarian decent and was born and raised, in trying times, in the Brooklands area of Winnipeg. Dad met Gladys on a blind date at Winnipeg Beach. Their journey blessed them with 62 years of marriage. His family thanks the wonderful and caring staff of the 5th Floor, Unit 6, Seven Oaks Hospital. A celebration of Dad's life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. The Service will commence at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dad's name, to the Winnipeg Humane Society (www.winnipeghumanesociety.ca), the Nature Conservancy of Canada (www.natureconservancy.ca) or the Canadian Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.ca) would be appreciated.
