TIMOTHY LIONEL HUNT (TIM)
Born: Aug 06, 1960
Date of Passing: Jul 25, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTIMOTHY LIONEL HUNT (TIM) August 6, 1960 - July 25, 2009 With profound sadness, we announce Tim's sudden, unexpected death caused by a ruptured abdominal aorta aneurysm just days before his 49th birthday! Survived by mother Peggy Lawrence, her husband Jim; father Marvin, sister Laney and brother Michael; nephews Orion, Kahlil and their father David Waldman; nieces Willow, Kaiya, Latitia, Allyssa and their mother Sandy Soke; his stepsiblings, Robert (Debbie) Lawrence, Laurie (Jim), Aaron and Leah Green, Joyce (Neil), Krystal, Hailey and Hayden Sorenson, Beverly (Shane), Everett and Cole Olson; Aunt Verna Howarth, Aunt Bev and Uncle Ralph Milton; Aunt Pat, Logan, numerous Friesen and Hunt cousins and many friends who called him The Gentle Giant. Tim grew up in Transcona and completed his schooling in eleven and one half years without missing even one day of school after having chicken pox in Grade One. He played football with the Transcona Nationals for six years enjoying his lineman position beside his friend Jim Rybachuk. Then, with a couple of Scholarships from Murdoch MacKay Collegiate and the required entrance portfolio of his art, Tim entered the University of Manitoba and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) Degree majoring in Art History. Most of Tim's tuition was paid for with money he earned as a fishing guide in Northern Ontario. After trying out a number of jobs, most unrelated to his University training, Tim found a position with the City of Winnipeg, where he could use his extensive computer capabilities, learn some new Stationary Engineer skills AND get FIVE DAYS OFF in a row during each shift cycle, when he could enjoy and enhance his love of cycling. Tim rode one of his several bikes whenever he could; even in winter when it was thirty below! You just pedal faster and put on studded tires , he would say! Tim was a founder and active member of Bike to the Future , a voluntary inclusive group of concerned citizens working to make cycling in Winnipeg a safe, enjoyable, accessible and convenient transportation choice year round. A service conducted by Rev. Jeff Cook to celebrate Tim's life, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009, Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West, Transcona. Following a lunch reception, those who wish may travel to Poplar Point where Tim's ashes will be buried in his father's family plot at St. Anne's Anglican Church where Tim was baptized as a baby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: Bike To the Future / Manitoba Eco-Network, 3rd Floor, 303 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, R3B 2B4; or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
