DONALD ALBERT POBORSA 1950 - 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don Poborsa, at the age of 58, on July 28, 2009. Don passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a courageous battle. Don will be lovingly missed by his wife, Karen, his children Jayson, Jody, Jenna, and Kailey, grandson Ciaran, mother Carol Poborsa, sister Joan Swirski, father-in-law Fred Sigurdson, sister in-law Gail Sigurdson, nephew Scott Swirski and niece Natisha Piercy. He was predeceased by his father Frank Poborsa and his mother-in-law Ellen Sigurdson. Don was born in Gimli, Manitoba and grew up on a farm near Teulon, Manitoba. Don moved to Winnipeg after high school and began working at Canada Safeway, where he remained until he became sick in June 2008. In recent years he also worked in lawn care, snow removal and landscaping. He was looking forward to retirement and starting his own landscaping business. Through the years, Don was involved in the Kinsmen Club, Boy Scouts, coaching hockey and baseball, the board of Varsity View Community Club, the Winnipeg South West Softball Association, and a member of the Charleswood Horticultural Society. Don enjoyed all sports, in particular football and curling. He also really enjoyed camping and spending time at the lake. He loved the outdoors with a special passion for gardening. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at CancerCare, Health Sciences Centre, Deer Lodge Centre and the Grace Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care. A celebration of Don's life will be held at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., on Friday, July 31 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow. If friends wish, please consider a donation to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, 620 Colborne Street, Suite 301, London, Ontario, N6B 3R9 in Don's name. Chapel Lawn 885 - 9715
