GARY WILLIAM BELL Peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the tender age of 38 years, Gary William Bell, beloved son of Rita and William Bell, unexpectedly passed away into the arms of his Maker. Gary was the only boy in our family. Leaving to mourn his absence are, his parents William and Rita; his sisters Janet (Michael Hummel) and Joleen (Adrian Hawaleshka); his nephews Caillin and Braeden and his niece Kiera; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada, England and Northern Ireland. He also leaves his very special four-legged toothless friend Minkey. Born on July 8, 1971 at the Women's Pavilion, Gary grew up in the town of Birds Hill. He attended Dr. F.W.L Hamilton Elementary School, Robert Andrews Junior High School and River East Collegiate. At the time of his passing he was working at Baker Manufacturing in the sales division. He thoroughly enjoyed working at Baker and always spoke highly of his colleagues and the enjoyable antics at work. Gary had many qualities that made him stand out in a crowd. Profoundly interested in everything he came across, he focused on electronics, making his homes into futuristic technological havens. Whenever anyone in the family had a computer problem, Gary always saved the day. He helped foster this computer-curiosity and a general sense of play in his nephew Caillin, with whom he shared a very special bond. While in elementary school, his teacher Mrs. Hanuschuk noticed that Gary had a beautiful singing voice and through her, Gary was recruited to sing in the Winnipeg Children's Mennonite Choir. With this choir group Gary would see the world including Florida, Austria, England, France and Germany. Although he would never call himself talented, he definitely was gifted in music, tinkering on his guitar or piano whenever he got the chance. Gary always had a knack of making people laugh. This was his best quality and Gary will always be remembered for his over - the- top' comments and the fact he could take it as good as he gave it'. His roaring laughter filled a room and he could always make people feel better when they were feeling down. Gary had a heart of gold. Nothing was too big for anyone he loved and Gary always went far out of his way to help those around him. From running in the middle of the night this spring to rescue Joleen from a flooded basement to holding his extravagant yearly Mother's Day dinner of steak and lobster, Gary always gave his heart regardless of how big or small the situation and Gary's heart could handle it all! Gary had three passions in life; family, cooking and friends. He always amazed us with his culinary delights . We would often leave Gary's house with our sides splitting from his hilarious antics (or just looking at him in that white apron cooking up a storm) and his delicious meals. We will always remember the great meals that brought us together as a family and friends at his dinner table in his kitchen. There is now an empty place at our table and we find it hard to bear. We are comforted slightly in the thought of seeing him again one day where of course he will look at us and say: What took you so long! The steaks are waiting, the lobster is ready and man do I have A LOT to tell you! At this time this family would like to thank the many family and friends that have surrounded us in this difficult time. Without your arms and support we would not have made it through. A memorial mass will be held at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, 3597 Main St. on Friday, July 31 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Louis J. McCloskey officiating. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation in Gary's memory to a charity of your choice. To Our Boy, You have slipped the surly bonds of earth But will forever remain in our hearts.
