JEAN-CHARLES (CHUCK) LAMBERT January 30, 1931 - July 26, 2009 On Sunday, July 26, 2009, Jean-Charles succumbed to cancer at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 78 years. Letting him go with love are his wife of 55 years, Therese (nee Trudeau); their children Denyse, Lise Vass (Robert), Claude (Bonnie-Lee); grandchildren Tommy, Daylan, Aaron, Teresa, Hayley and Jonah; his brothers from Quebec City Fernand (Madeleine), Edgar, Paul Emile, brother from Winnipeg, Marcel (Greta) along with his two sisters, Yolande from LaChute, Quebec; and Soeur Cecile Lambert, Quebec City and his sister-in-law Francis Cruse from Victoria B.C. Missing him as well will be numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. Greeting him, after what seemed like and will now be an eternity, will be his mother Eva and father Phillipe Lambert, his sister Denise Godbout, his brothers-in-law Johnny and Joe Trudeau, Jimmy Cruse, and Keith Wilson, his sisters-in-law Marthe and Pierette Lambert, his mother and father-in-law Alma and Lucien Trudeau, his nephew Raymond Lambert, and many, many others he held close to his heart over many years including his many beloved pets. Jean-Charles was born in Beauport, Quebec 78 short years ago. At the age of four he lost his father and then ten years later his mother. At the young age of 14 he ventured out into the world with faith, determination and a grade 8 education. He never allowed his lack of a formal education act as a detriment to any and all goals achieved throughout his life. He worked at many a job including the forestry camps of northern Quebec. Jean-Charles later learned both the electrical and plumbing trades but was not to use them professionally. At 21 he joined the Canadian Air Force which afforded him the opportunity to learn English and see the world. That journey took him to Rivers, Manitoba where he met a beautiful, intriguing woman by the name of Therese Trudeau. After a whirlwind six month courtship which included a sweet exchange of letters, a proposal of marriage occurred. They were married April 3, 1954 and immediately went off to start their lives together in Paris, France. Twenty years, four postings and three children later, the family settled in Winnipeg where Jean-Charles left the Air Force and pursued numerous careers. His final and most enjoyable career was as one of the top Salespersons for the Knights of Columbus Insurance Program. Jean-Charles retired in the mid 90's enjoying golf, curling and especially learning the intricacies of technology by constantly advancing his knowledge about computers. He realized many accomplishments but paramount among these were his family, his personal educational achievements and his time given to Father Allan Hall Council Knights of Columbus and St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. He was one of the founding members of Father Hall Council Knights of Columbus and was extremely proud of this along with the achievement of receiving the rank of 4th degree Knights of Columbus. St. Charles Roman Catholic Church was his community. His dedication to his many friends, both ley and spiritual could only be summed up as extraordinary. Service was never just a word to Chuck. He exemplified more times than one could say the true spirit of its meaning, many times dropping everything to assist friend or family. His grandchildren will always know him as Pe and will miss his teasing at gift-opening time at Christmas reveillon. He was a loyal husband, father, brother and friend. Pilgrimages with Therese to Quebec to visit his seven brothers and sisters and their families and his sister-in-law and her husband in Victoria were extremely precious to him and he looked forward to these with childlike excitement. He loved you and cared about you all so very much. This is merely a glimpse of his life and does not go far enough to tell you about this stellar man. Prayers will be held on Tuesday evening, August 4, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street, lead by his son Deacon Claude Lambert. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning, August 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church with Rev. Father Paul J. Tinguely, presiding. Pallbearers will be Abe Froese, Eugene Fortin, Eugene Phaneuf, Chris Souce, Tom Vass and Robert Vass. His family would like to thank the compassion and loving care for which Dr. Ralph Wong, Oncologist, and the staff of the 3rd Floor, Grace General Hospital gave so freely. Thank you as well to those who visited Dad during his last few days with us. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church Building Fund in Jean-Charles's name would be appreciated. We will miss you your strength of faith and character. We know as you know that life here on earth is only the beginning. With that we will say good-by for now. VAYA CON DIOS MY DARLING UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.
