MADELINE MACKINTOSH I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. . . . Mary Elizabeth Frye Madeline, often known as Maud to her friends, left us on Friday July 24, 2009 after 102 and one-half years of exuberant and adventuresome life. She was born in Stonehaven, Scotland on January 27, 1907 to John and Mary Macdonald and came to Canada to marry her sweetheart John Mackintosh on June 15, 1930. Madeline was a gamekeeper's daughter, a nurse and wife, but we appreciated her most for her love and devotion as a mother and grandmother. She was the mother to Duncan, Ord, Joe (Carole) and Marie (Gerry). She was grandmother to Karen (Josh), Heather (Anthony), Jody (LeeAnn), John, Caitlin (James) and Rod (Carly). She was great-grandmother to Ashley and Elliott. Madeline will be missed also by her special friends Audrey Grant and Donna Goodman. She was predeceased by her husband John and son Duncan. Madeline spent many happy years at her cottage north of Gimli where she was always in the company of her beloved generation of Labradors, Jasper, Jazz and Jezabel, who followed lovingly in her footsteps. Madeline had a full life. She had an unwavering faith and enjoyed her involvement with the congregation of Winnipeg's First Presbyterian Church. In her later years at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home, she was blessed with the attention of the wonderful caregivers at Station 3. We are thankful for their loving care. A Christian service and private family gathering will be held to celebrate Madeline's life. Flowers respectfully declined. Donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg MB R3T 0R3 in Madeline's name are welcome. Interment is at the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
