Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT FRANK BONNETT (Crossing the Bar) Peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the age of 72 years, Robert passed away after a brief stay at the Riverview Health Centre. Remaining to forever cherish Bob's memory are his wife Beatrice Bonnett, daughter Holly, son-in-law Peter Klippenstein, grandchildren Nathan and Melissa, brother John (Donna), nephew John with his family, and niece Diane (Brent) with her family. Bob will also be missed by his sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Desmond), Mardell (Gary), Diane (Dale), and their families and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Frank in 1957 and his mother Eva in 1979. Bob was born November 29, 1936 in Winnipeg. Beginning at the age of 16, he worked for the Manitoba Telephone System for the following 38 and one half years. Bob lived most of his life in Winnipeg. After retirement and years of boating on Lake of the Woods and owning a cottage at Devil's Gap, Bea and Bob decided to buy a home on Storm Bay Road in 1998. Bob enjoyed everything about lake life. Bob had many interests and hobbies over the years - snowmobiling, snow blowing, motorcycling, boating, archery, and he was a John Deere aficionado. He was a voracious reader with a particular interest in military history and books on all kinds of transportation. He was also extremely mechanically inclined and could spend countless hours tinkering. Bob was a dog lover, and there was always a dog in his life as well as a dog 'cookie' in his pocket for the neighbour's dog. Bob was as a member of the Masonic Acacia Lodge, No. 111 AF AM and for many years he was a member of the Royal Manitoba Yacht Club. And last but not least, Bob was a storyteller. He LOVED to tell stories which may have been embellished, but there was always a grain of truth in them. Robert's funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg with Jason Zinko, presiding. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of both the Seven Oaks Hospital and the Riverview Centre for the warm and compassionate care that they provided for Bob during his stay. A donation in Bob's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
