JONAS MALISAUSKAS It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Jonas Malisauskas on August 2, 2009 at the age of 84. He was predeceased by his loving wife Rosemarie in 2005. He will be greatly missed by his son Bruno Malis (wife Pat) and his son Margis Malisauskas (wife Cindy); his grandchildren Angela, Derrick, Christopher, Anthony and his nephew Jim James (wife Nancy) and their two sons Nicolas and Dylan. Mom and Dad gave us unconditional love and dedicated their lives to their family. Jonas was extremely proud of his Lithuanian heritage and helped build St. Casimir's Lithuanian Church in Winnipeg. He enjoyed folk dancing, singing, attending banquets and going to Mass with his fellow countrymen. Jonas also helped his family have meaningful camping experiences at Oak Point and at Nutimik Lake, where he passed his love for fishing and camping to his sons. Later on, Mom and Dad enjoyed 20 years of cottage life at Winnipeg Beach. After retiring from his career as a tailor, Mom and Dad travelled to Lithuania, Germany, Hawaii and California. During his last years, Jonas loved living at the Donwood Manor where he felt at home with his neighbours. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Concordia Hospital for their diligent care and kindness. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jonas's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
