Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUNE CATHERINE MCBEY LMM, AMM, LRSM, ARCT (nee Turner) Peacefully on August 5, 2009 at The Scarborough Hospital - Grace Division at the age of 88. Loving wife of the late Robert James McBey and cherished mother of Rod (Kathryn), Ken (Betty-Anne) and Don. Dear grandmother and friend of Thomas, David and Diana. She will be sadly missed by the Turner Family, McBey Family and her many friends, students and associates. June was a celebrated pianist and music teacher who studied with E. Robert Schmitz, friend and colleague of Claude Debussy. During her performing years she gave numerous radio and recital performances in Canada and the U.S. She was passionate about her music and took great pride in the local and international accomplishments of her students, many of whom have continued in musical careers worldwide. She gave many years of active to the Registered Music Teachers Associations of Manitoba and Ontario, helping to found the North Toronto Branch (ORMTA), establishing scholarships, adjudicating numerous competitions and conducting master classes in Piano repertoire. Friends are invited to visit with June's family on Friday, August 14, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Newtonbrook United Church, 53 Cummer Avenue (east of Yonge St., north of Finch St.). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Newtonbrook United Church with reception to follow.
