DOUGLAS JOSEPH LAMIRANDE It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our brother on August 2, 2009. Doug was predeceased by his wife of more than 40 years, Lenore; his mother Yvonne (nee St. Germain), father Zephrin, brothers Moe and Leo and sister Florence. He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers Jim, Paul, Ross (Lynn), Edward (Leona), Gordon and sisters Theresa, Josie, Jeanette, Stella, Diane (Gary), Alida (Eugene), Pauline and Val (Russ) of Vancouver, who he dearly missed. Doug was the eldest of 17 children. He met his beloved wife Lenore while recuperating at the St. Amant upon returning from overseas. When he was well enough to travel he and Lenore made Vancouver their home. Never having children, Doug cherished his prize poodle Buster'. Doug was a generous man. He helped the more unfortunate of the Eastside of Vancouver, often giving money and a place to stay. He was know as Grandpa' by many. He always treated them with respect. After losing his beloved Lenore he came back to Winnipeg to reconnect with his family. Failing in health he moved to Central Park Lodge, eventually settling in at the Foyer Valade. A gathering of family and friends took place at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Thanks to the Foyer Valade for their care and kindness. Thank you to Russ and Lynn and Stella for looking after Doug's affairs. We love you Doug We'll miss you always. Donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, R3C 0S6 or the Foyer Valade, 450 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB.
