AUDREY JACQUELINE MCGREGOR It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey McGregor on August 2, 2009 at the age of 77. Audrey was born on February 8, 1932 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Edward McGregor and by her parents, Jack and Mabel Cheetham. Left to treasure her memory are her three children Debbie, Patti and Gord. She is survived by her sisters Jean (Don) Bates, Bev (Gary) Paull and Carole (Peter) Winter. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jamie and Shannon Hood, Noah and Nikolas Talbot, and Darryl, Matthew and Scott McGregor, as well as by Betty McGregor. She will be missed by her dear cousin and long-time friend Dee Henderson, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Audrey spent most of her young life in St. Germain, south of Winnipeg, where her parents owned a grocery store. She graduated from the Manitoba Teacher's College and spent 27 years as a schoolteacher, beginning at the Southfield School in Pratt, Manitoba. While teaching at Pratt, she met Gordon and they were married in 1950. The following year they moved to St. Germain to live among the friends and family Audrey knew and loved so well. She spent many years teaching at Dakota Elementary School, later named Victor Mager School, in St. Vital and was delighted when she would often find children of former students among her pupils. After retiring in 1989, Audrey was active in the Eagles Club, where she worked as a volunteer and made many close friends. Throughout her life, Audrey was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, always finding time for a thoughtful gesture and a kind word. Birthdays of family members and friends seldom escaped her attention and her homemade treats were welcomed by all. She was especially fond of her seven grandchildren and always looked for ways to make them feel special. Her house was truly a home. The family wishes to thank Diana Rasmussen and the staff at the Brummitt-Feasby ALS House for their compassionate care. In keeping with Audrey's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Thomson In The Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3 or a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • 9 years late. My sincerest condolences to Mrs. McGregor's family & friends. Mrs. McGregor was my grade 1 teacher back in 1968. I loved her. I attended Dakota Elementary/Victor from grade 1 thru 9. Even after moving on from grade 1, I would stop by her room to say hello. As I grew older & Mrs. McGregor moved on to teaching the Kindergarten class I would volunteer to help her with her class every chance I got. 15yrs after grade 9 grade, Mrs. McGregor recognized a friend also one of her students Val Loewen & myself at the St. Vital mall. We were so shocked she remembered our names after all that time and so many students she was a truly special, amazing lady. She personally was our favourite teacher ever! I am pretty sure the majority of her students feel the same. The world will never be the same again without her here. Mrs. McGregor you were loved by me and so many of your students and you will be missed forever! Rest peacefully you deserve a very special place in heaven. - Posted by: Janet Harrow-Courcelles (Student) on: Sep 18, 2018
