WAYNE PAUL POITRAS January 3, 1947 - August 5, 2009 Wayne passed unexpectedly while working on August 5, 2009 at the age of 62. Survived by his brother Roger (Chris), nephews Derek and Garth, Aunt Rita Cherlet, and cousins, Gary (Denise), Stephen (Alison) and Jeffrey (Tammy), uncle Ralph (Darlene) Tofflemire and cousins, Michelle (Gerald), Charmaine (Gordon) and Nicole and Aunt Lorraine Poitras. Predeceased by, father Edward (1980), mother Florence (2003), and sister Carole Anne (1944). Wayne was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. He graduated from Silver Heights Collegiate in 1965. After high school Wayne began working for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in the early years of computers. He left the bank and worked as a taxi driver for 30 years. After recovering from a serious illness in 1997 he began his current career as a service driver for Woodhaven Lexus Toyota. Wayne enjoyed his involvement with the Winnipeg Sports Car Club and spent many years competing in auto racing events. A memorial service will take place on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with a reception to follow. Chapel Lawn 885 - 9715
