PAULINE DURAND (nee CORMIER) Peacefully,on Friday, August 7, 2009 at Foyer Valade, surrounded by her loving family Pauline Durand passed away at the age of 74 following a brief illness. Predeceased by her beloved husband Armand Durand and left to mourn her passing are her children; daughter Colette, son Marc (Donna), and daughter Lorraine (Terry Waite). Also mourning are her grand-children Nicole, Michelle, and Danielle Durand, Christine, Leanne, and David Waite, and her great-granddaughter Jasmyn Guerin. Pauline will also be remembered by her sisters Monique Laurin, Agathe Rochon, Andree Lemoine (Jean), Gisele Isabey (Amedee), and her two brothers Lucien Cormier (Cecile), and Edmond Cormier. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Sophie Cormier, infant sister Agathe Cormier, sisters Therese Girardin, Armande Mckenna, and brothers Camille, Aime, Benoit, and Alain Cormier. Pauline was born in LaSalle, MB. November 5, 1934, the youngest of 14 children. She then moved to St. Claude, MB and after graduation, worked as a receptionist at St. Claude Hospital. In July of 1958, she married the love of her life Armand and settled in Virden, MB. In 1968, the family moved to Winnipeg, where Pauline raised her family and worked for many years at Al's Jewellers. But Pauline's greatest passion and talent was music. She excelled at the piano and organ, devoting 40 years as the church organist at Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens; was the accompanist for La Chorale des Intrepides, Melo-Mani, Alliance Chorale as well as countless other choirs, weddings, funerals, or any occasion requiring a pianist. She had also enjoyed playing the piano at Restaurant Dubrovnik for the last 14 years. In the later years, Pauline volunteered her music skills at many retirement homes, namely Foyer Valade, Residence Despins, and Manoir de la Cathedrale. Bringing joy to so many people. Pauline was a classy, dignified lady, a good natured soul, and a woman of faith who also possessed great courage. She was generous with her time and loved her family and friends greatly. Her spirit will never be forgotten and she and her music will be greatly missed. The family is very grateful to our many relatives and friends who gave us support with their visits, prayers, and compassion. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Foyer Valade (especially to John, Rita, Donna and Jeannine) for having taken such great care of our Mother. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Marcel Toupin at the Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens Roman Catholic Church, 289 Dussault Ave, in Windsor Park on Wednesday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. The service will terminate at the church. Private interment will follow later. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in Pauline's memory to a charity of one's choice. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements.

  • C'est avec regret que j'ai appris le décès de tante Pauline. Je garde de très beaux souvenirs d'elle, surtout son beau sourire et sa joie de vivre.
