ALBERT CASAR It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather, Albert Casar, on August 10, 2009, at age 70, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Anne, sons Steve and John (Dianne), daughter-in-law Kathy, and his beloved grandchildren Paul, Izabella, and Rozalia. Also mourning are his brother Adolf (Marija) and sister Helena, both of Slovenia, and many relatives and friends in Slovenia, Canada and the United States. Albert was predeceased by his parents Jurij and Helena, and sister Marija. Born on March 4, 1939, living in Cepinci, Slovenia, Albert immigrated to Canada in 1958. He worked for the Pepsi Bottling Group for 45 years retiring in 2003. Albert was very proud of his Slovenian heritage and gave back to his community in many ways. He was a long time member of the Canadian Slovenian Cultural Society, serving on the executive for many years. Albert was also a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Slovenian Church, serving on parish council. Albert could always be found during Folklorama at the Slovenija pavilion, as he was a long time volunteer and held many positions, including Mayor and Coordinator. The family sincerely thanks all who contacted us and gave their support. Special thanks to Joe and Darka Casar, Sister Dorica Sever, and Rudy Casar, for all of the time and special care they gave Albert during his final days. Thanks also to the nursing staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care of Albert during his stay. Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Thursday, August 13 at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Slovenian Roman Catholic Church, 95 MacDonald Avenue, on Friday, August 14 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Stan Gacek officiating. Interment to follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Highway 1 East and Navin Road. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Canadian Slovenian Cultural Society in Albert's memory. POCIVAJ V MIRU
