GEORGE WILLIAM LAMMIMAN 1922 - 2009 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George William Lammiman, beloved husband, father in law, grandfather, and friend, at home on August 12, 2009. George was predeceased by his first wife, May (Howe), and his stepson, Harold Maygard. George leaves to mourn his loving wife Carole Maygard, stepchildren Sandra (Barry), Linda (Gary), and Donna, and grandchildren Courtney (Derek), Kyle, Lauren, Kaitlin, and Victoria. He also leaves to mourn his long time close friends Robyn and Cydnie, Danny and Dianne and Allyson. George was born on August 25, 1922 in England. At a very young age George joined the British Air force and was trained as a navigator and served during the Second World War. This part of his life took him to many parts of the world. He loved to share his many stories and experiences with family and friends. George continued sharing his knowledge with the Air Cadets of Winnipeg, under his command. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 55 years. George was a member of St. Thomas Anglican Church and was elected a lifelong member of vestry. George's faith was always important to him. When he was unable to attend St. Thomas, he worshipped with Carole at the chapel in Villa Cabrini. George, with his first wife May had an avid interest in the breeding and showing of pugs and English bulldogs. He was up until the time of his death, an involved member of their community. In 2002, George met Carole and they were happily married for five years. This union gave George the extended family he always wanted. George will be forever loved and sadly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 15, at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 1567 William Avenue West (1 block east of Keewatin) at 10:00 a.m., with the Reverend Julie Collings officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or to a charity of one's choice.
