GEORGE FRIESEN February 25, 1938 - August 9, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Friesen on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the Pinawa Hospital, after his battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Katharina and a sister, Leona in infancy. He is survived by his children Ryan, Cary and Josephine; grandchildren Destiny, Jordynn, Derian, Brandynn, and Tristen. He is also survived by his brothers Jake, John (Sharon), Elmer (Gaille), Delbert and sisters Tina (John), Mary, Alvina (Abe), Diane (Ben), Edna (Elmer) and Joyce (Wayne). Dad grew up in the Steinbach area and moved to Winnipeg, making truck driving his career. He passed the one million mile point easily. After his retirement he bought a house on a small acreage in River Hills, Manitoba. This was his retirement home where he wanted to putter around and grow old. However this dream was cut short when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2007. A special thank you to the wonderful staff and doctors at Pinawa Hospital for the care and dignity given to Dad during his last days. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour. Lunch to follow.
