GERARD JOSEPH ANDRE BUORS (POPEYE) Peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Portage and District General Hospital, Jerry Buors, beloved husband and best friend of Evelyn Buors, passed away at the age of 74 years. Jerry was born on March 10, 1935 at St. Laurent, MB where he spent his childhood. He worked numerous jobs throughout his life, spending years in Calgary, AB before retiring and moving back to Portage la Prairie. Jerry's greatest love was sports on TV. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Louis Buors, brother Marcel, sister Louise Buors, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Brenda Twiss, brothers-in-law, Willie Twiss and Pete Elias. Left to mourn his passing, are his wife Evelyn; children, Colleen (Don) Robinson, Chris, Rick (Wanda), Louise, Arthur (Linda) Peters, Cary (Lorie) Peters, Marsha Peters (Bryan); sister Denise (Jean) Chartrand; brothers, Henry (Ann), Paul (Joyce), Rene (Leona), Horace (Theresa), Alphonse (Claire) and Roland (Rita); sister-in-law Blanche; in-laws, Mary (Clifford) Wildfang, Jean (John) Heide, Marj Twiss, Robert (Barb) Twiss, Peggy Elias, Trevona (Tom) Bedford, Donald (Bev) Twiss, Authur (Lynn) Twiss, Stanley (Wendy) Twiss, Douglas (Gloria) Twiss. Also grandchildren, Maynan, Dylan, Amber, Stacey, Lacey and great-grandson Dion; three step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Health Care providers at the Portage General Hospital for their excellent care of Jerry. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2009 in the Elm Creek Cemetery.
