J.R. KEITH MUIRHEAD 1934 - 2009 Much loved husband, father, grandpa, brother , uncle and friend to many, passed away suddenly while hiking in Squamish on August 11, 2009. Predeceased by his parents, John and Isobel Muirhead, and survived by Jan, his beloved wife of 49 years, and his dearly loved daughters and sons-in-law Kathy (Dan), Sharon (Mel) and Joanne (Ken), and grandchildren William and Kate. Keith was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, and lived in a number of towns in Manitoba throughout his childhood and early teens. He and Jan moved to Vancouver from Winnipeg in 1966 where Keith was employed with BC Hydro until his retirement in 1994. Jan and Keith shared a love of travel and made trips to many parts of the world, but his favourite place of all was the family's cabin at Peter Hope Lake. One of Keith's passions was curling, which he shared with his grandson William as a junior curling coach. He was so excited at being offered a position as host at the curling venue for the 2010 Olympics. He and his cousin Frank were well-known fixtures at the Brier Patch every year. Another great joy was dancing with his granddaughter Kate and attending her dance recitals. His passing will leave a huge void in the lives of his family and he will be missed by his many friends. A memorial will be held at the Peace Arch Curling Club on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Friends are welcome to share with the family in a time of remembrance. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation in his memory to the Optimist Junior Interclub Curling League, #328 19528 Fraser Highway, Surrey, V3S 8P4, or to a charity of your choice.
