ROBERT MACLOSKIE Peacefully, surrounded by his family, Bob passed away at the Victoria Hospital August 14, 2009 at the age of 80. Dad/Grandpa will be lovingly remembered by his son John and his wife Karen, daughter Pat and her husband Lyle, daughter Pam and her husband Mike, and his grandchildren Matthew, Daniel (Lisa), Bridget, Rob (Karen), Adam, Katy and Graham. Dad was predeceased by our mother Grace in 2007. Dad was born and raised in Toronto. He met Mom through their mutual interest in scouting and from what we heard they were married on the hottest, most humid day in July on record. Two years later, they moved to Winnipeg through Dad's work where we three kids were born. Following a transfer to Regina and later Saskatoon, we returned to Winnipeg in 1971 where they remained. Dad retired from Marshall Wells and he and Mom enjoyed retirement with trips to Great Britain, Las Vegas and Florida. They were married 54 years before she passed away. Dad was a remarkable man in many ways. In particular, he had a very pragmatic approach to life, taking things as they came. In his quiet and understated way, he was very devoted to his family. We were all very fortunate to have him as a loving father and grandfather. He accepted his own failing health with dignity, striving to be as independent as possible and he left his affairs in impeccable order. We were proud and honoured to support him in calling all the shots right up to the very end. He will be missed for his unflappable nature, green bean casserole, stash of Werther's, piano playing, lifesavers at Christmas for the grandkids, and his dry sense of humour ( Would I lie to you? ). A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Thanks to the staff at the Victoria Hospital for their care during his stay. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
