Date of Passing: Aug 13, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACQUELINE KRISTEN PLAZA It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter and sister, Jacqueline Kristen Plaza on August 13, 2009 in Winnipeg, at the young age of 27. Jackie was born at St. Boniface Hospital and was raised and educated in Oakbank, MB. Despite being born with CP, and enduring a life time of both physical and visual disabilities, Jackie went on to achieve a BA at the U of W with the initial intention of pursuing a career in teaching which later turned to social work. Sadly that dream did not materialize due to illness. Although she faced many challenges in her life she always came and gave a fearless effort that saw her through the challenge. Jackie always worried about everyone else and pushed her own pain away. She was known for, and will always be remembered for her sunny smile and optimistic outlook on life. She was truly an inspiration for all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her mom and dad Peter and Debbie Plaza, sister Stacy, Grandmother Jean Dixon and Mel, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Honorary Pallbearers Catie Ellis, Erin MacDonald, Tara Boissoneault, Shawna McClinton, Theresa Senez, Jade Pollock. Jackie was predeceased by her grandfather (Percy) Gizowski, Baba Plaza, Baba (Nellie) and Gigi (Peter) Skoby and Aunt Wendy. A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, August 20, 4:00 p.m. at Oakbank United Church. Interment to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. Donations, if friends so desire, may be made in Jackie's name to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg R3A 9Z9, or CNIB, 1080 Portage Ave., Winnipeg R3G 9Z9.
