CD CATHERINE NORA (KAY) COOMBE (nee HOPGOOD) Daughter of Margaret and stepfather Ernest Coltman, born London England, September 23, 1920, passed away peacefully at Central Park Lodge in Winnipeg August 14, 2009. She is survived by son Don Buster' Brown and daughter-in-law Gerri (Halifax), son Danny Colleaux (Winnipeg), grandson Jeffrey Brown and great-grandson Colin Brown both of Halifax, sister-in-law Mary Brown, niece and nephew Patricia Brown, and Clive Brown, London, England, sister-in-law Alice Brown (Moreau) Brandon, MB, nieces Verly, Vonda, Linda, Pamela, Valerie, Deborah, Rita and nephews John, Lionel, Andrew, Kenneth and Larry. She was predeceased by husbands Donald Ramsey Brown, Albert Edward Colleaux, John William Coombe and brother and sister Arthur and Florence. Kay, whose husband Don (Royal Fusiliers) was killed in action in 1944 during the Second World War, at war's end married Al Colleaux (Royal Canadian Signals) in London and as a Canadian warbride came to Canada with son Don to make Winnipeg home for the remainder of her life. Several years later after Al suddenly died in 1960, she then married John Coombe who succumbed to health problems in the early 1990's. Throughout her life, Kay was always jovial and loved dancing, knitting, big band music, bowling, darts, pets and had many friends. She served in the C.W.A.C. (Dental Corps Militia) and as a dental nurse later worked as a DND employee at CFB Winnipeg. Cremation has taken place through arrangements with Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway in Winnipeg and a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In keeping with her wishes, Kay's ashes shall be conveyed to Halifax, Nova Scotia and will be scattered at sea upon the Atlantic Ocean. She was a Satin Doll .
