Date of Passing: Aug 17, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGE TRYNACITY Wearing her two favourite necklaces, and surrounded by all the things she loved, including photos, soothing music and the Sex and the City movie, Margaret Trynacity died peacefully at the Gimli Community Health Centre on Monday August 17, 2009. She died from a weak and broken heart, hastened by the sudden death of her husband Bill Trynacity four years ago and a freak accident that caused her to become a quadriplegic shortly after. Marge adored art, good friends, shopping, and of course her dear family. She was born in Fraserwood, Manitoba 76 years ago, and was raised in Winnipeg where she worked at the Women's Pavilion Hospital and Marshall Wells before meeting her sweetheart Bill. They were married in 1952 and moved to Gimli where they raised their two children Karen Troughton (Gerry) of Winnipeg and Kim Trynacity (David Popowich) of Edmonton. Work was a big part of Marge's life. She was a clerk typist at Canadian Forces Base Gimli until it closed in 1971. She later worked the Canada Employment Centre, and finally at the RCMP detachment in Arborg. Marge served as President of the Gimli Art Club numerous times, and was a driving force behind the creation of the popular seawall. Life became extraordinarily difficult for Marge in the last three years as she struggled to deal with her disability. She defied the naysayers, and lived independently with help from a superior support system, and innovative technology. She continued to paint, see her hairdresser, and keep regular appointments up until her recent health failure. Thank you to Dr. R.C. Patel and the caring and compassionate staff of the Gimli Hospital. Special thank you to Gimli Homecare, including Brenda who made it all happen, and her amazing caregivers Karen, Gloria, Amanda and Marge's personal caregivers Maria and Barbie. We'd also like to thank the handi van services of Arborg, Riverton and Selkirk who helped Marge get to where she wanted to go, whether she was stranded on the side of the highway, or going to a birthday party on the weekend. Aside from her two children, Marge leaves to mourn her grandchildren Ramsey Troughton of New York City, Alex Troughton of Edmonton and Zach Trynacity Popowich of Edmonton, her brothers Eugene (Sally) Shymkiw, Dennis (Joan)) Shymkiw of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Elsie Vatzel of Morden and many nieces and nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents Anne and John Shymkiw of Winnipeg, her mother-in-law Mary Wozny of Winnipeg, and her husband Bill. Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday August 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gimli Lutheran Church, followed by lunch at the Fraserwood Hall. In lieu of flowers please offer your donations to the Northeast District Palliative Care, PO Box 250, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
