Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySANFORD ROSS SPENCER April 23, 1948 August 16, 2009 Peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2009 Sandy passed away at age 61. Remaining to forever cherish Sandy's memory are his children Lance (Jennifer), Joelle (Robin), grandsons Robin, William, Jamie; brothers William (Hilda), Robin (Lee), Rick McBride (Donna), sisters Sharon Brown, Cathy Spencer; many nieces, nephews, in-laws, foster children and his many, many friends who knew him as Sandor . He was predeceased by his parents William and Grace Spencer of Winnipeg and his loving wife and best friend of 39 years Leslie. Sandy was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba but grew up in Winnipeg where he met Leslie. They lived in Churchill for a short time before settling in Winnipeg with their two children Lance and Joelle. Sandy worked at Transair and Felic Services before finally retiring at Motor Coach Industries. Sandy was dedicated to his family. He had a love for all children and animals and especially enjoyed spending precious time with his grandsons. Sandy was the social director for all family events, including crib tournaments, barbecues, casino trips and Spencerama. He especially liked the meal planning since Sandy loved to cook. Sandy could often be found playing VLT's, betting on the horses, golfing, fishing, playing baseball, watching his son play hockey or having a night out with the boys. Sandy had an amazing sense of humour, a very quick wit but also a very kind heart. We are glad and proud to say that he showed all of these qualities right to the end. A special thank you to Dr. Penner, Dr. Young and the 5th floor nursing staff at Victoria Hospital. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandy's memory to the Children's Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2 or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. We love you Dad, you will be deeply missed but as we sit around the bonfire at your request we will take great comfort in knowing that you are at peace and your heart is whole again with Mom.
