LOIS MABEL PERSOAGE (nee SKWAREK) It is with our deepest love and saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of Lois Persoage of Teulon, MB at the age of 70 years, on August 16, 2009, after a brief illness, at St. Boniface Hospital, with her family at her side. Left to cherish her memory are her husband and best friend, Eddy, of almost 50 years, her daughter, Kelley (Aryan) and granddaughter, Megan, son Michael (Sherry) and grandchildren Alex, Brianne and Austin, daughter Lesley (Robert) and granddaughters Alexandra and Tianna, her mother Anna, sister Margie (John), special aunt Josie, sisters-in-law Irene and Alice, numerous aunts and uncles, much-loved nieces and nephews and many special friends. She was predeceased by her father John in 1996. Lois was born in Selkirk, MB on October 10, 1938. She was raised on the family farm near Petersfield where she attended Armistice School and graduated from Teulon High School in grade 11. She furthered her studies at Success Business College and worked as a senior secretary at Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting in Winnipeg until she married Eddy Persoage on her birthday in 1959. Lois was hugely involved in the community as a member of the Kinettes, executive member of the Teulon Figure Skating Club and co-founder of the Teulon Ukrainian Dance Club, just to name a few. She also coached softball, played women's hockey and loved curling. Mom was an extremely loving, caring and selfless person. She always put others first and her generous nature touched everyone who knew her. She had a gift of making people feel welcome in her home and the coffee pot was always on. Her grandchildren were her life and she treasured every moment she spent with them. They always knew they were loved and that Grandma would do anything for them. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff in the emergency and intensive care units at St. Boniface Hospital, especially Dr. Smith and Dr. Strumpher for their genuine compassion and outstanding care. Prayers will be held Friday, August 21, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Hall, Reverend Joseph Redpath officiating. Pallbearers will be Jaymes Kadynuik, Curtis Tchir, Colin Tchir, Bruce Cockerill, Jeff Malpas and Michael Janzen. All of Lois' friends are honourary pallbearers. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association of Manitoba or St. Boniface General Hospital. Lois was the most supportive, encouraging and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt we could have ever asked for. The immense void left by her passing will never be filled, but our memories will live on in our hearts forever. To My Family I go from you gently for it is my time To take the next step In this journey of mine. Don't grieve for me long I've not left you alone For I will be with you In the love we have known. That love is forever And someday when it is time You will join me again On this journey of mine. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
