MANUEL INACIO SILVA May 25, 1928 - August 16, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years Benvinda; daughter Barbara (George); grandchildren Joshua and Connie. He will be sadly missed by his sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends in Portugal, United States and Canada. He was predeceased by his parents Soledade and Jose; and by his brother Jose. Dad was born in Reliquias, Portugal and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1967 with his wife and daughter. He worked on the railroads and in construction, retiring at the age of 65. During his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, trips to Portugal, but most of all, his time spent with family and friends. Dad's greatest joys were his grandchildren. Spending time watching Connie play outside and cherishing every moment with Josh. The bond he had with Josh was amazing. The memories that they built together will remain with both of them forever. To all of us, his family, his support and love of family will be lovingly remembered, never forgotten and always cherished. We would like to thank Dr. Cross, Dr. Dias, Dr. P. Harris, Dr. Milner, the staff at the Grace CancerCare, the staff on the 5th floor at the Grace for the great care that you gave to our dad. A special thank you to family and friends for your support during this difficult time. Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2009 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Parish, 4588 Roblin Boulevard at Grant Avenue with Msgr. M. Comeault the celebrant.
