Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLIFFORD MAYTWAYASHING February 10, 1939 - August 17, 2009 Suddenly on Monday, August 17, 2009 at his home at Lake Manitoba First Nation, Clifford Maytwayashing aged 70 years passed away. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Eleanor; special pet Fluffy, son Patrick (friend Pam), his daughters Cheryl, Angie (Bob) Lucier, Stacy (Henry Roulette); his step-children Andrea, Kim, Celeste, Fred and Ben; a sister Sarah (Bruce) Walker, a brother Clemence Tom (Rose) Paul, sisters-in-law Sandra Maytwayashing, Mary Anne Maytwayashing, Vivian Beardy, Margaret Buckely; brothers-in-law Lynn Murphy, Clifford Peebles and Victor Ryle; eight grandchildren and 27 step-grandchildren; his special cousins Walter Maytwayashing, Bill Mason Paul, Uncle Frankie (Roseanna) Desjarlais, aunt Margaret Paul, special nieces Eva Jane, Yvonne, Phyllis, Kathleen, Viola Klein, Debbie Beaulieu, Sylvia Maytwayashing and Emma Maytwayashing; along with numerous nieces and nephews and cousins of the Delia Hanslip family. Special mention to Clifford Maytwayashing's band members past and present James Flett, Terry Enstrom, the late Robbie Brass, Fransis Klein, the Lavallee brothers, Victor Monkman, Trevor Smith, Kenny Choken, Mike Malcolm, Marcel Malcolm, Elvis Maytwayashing, Jordie Zastre, Ross Gumbrill, Father LeGal, Eugene Ratt, Shawn Mousseau, Marvin Swan, Billy Joe Green, Jeff Houle, Jerry Lavallee, Yvon Dumont, Lindy Johnson. Cliff's life was filled with his love of music. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. Most mornings you would find him playing his fiddle. Clifford spent most of his life doing the things that he loved, which included being a bus driver and an automotive mechanic. Clifford worked as a mechanic in Ashern for many years and eventually owned his own shop at Lake Manitoba Reserve. Cliff then gave it up after he started driving school bus, which he drove for 31 years. Most recently he was ready to start his 32nd year as bus driver on September 9, 2009. His passions were having coffee with anybody and everyone, playing the VLTs and going to bingo. Most weekends he was out playing his fiddle somewhere. Whenever he played locally his little sidekick Keifer would accompany him. They have been pictured together at events. Clifford was known far and wide and will be sadly missed by so many people. In his home and by his close friends Clifford was affectionately known as Buffalo . Clifford was predeceased by his first wife Marlene on August 13, 1992; his parents Patrice Maytwayashing on August 16, 1965, Emma (Desjarlais) Maytwayashing on March 18, 1989; his brothers Clarence, Walter, Douglas, Alfred, Louis and Fred Maytwayashing on August 22, 2008; his sisters Florence Paul on November 8, 1991, Cecilia Campeau on July 28, 1985, and Ruby Murphy on June 30, 2006; his grandsons Patrick (PJ) Maytwayashing on October 5, 2003, Cole Roulette on June 18, 2001, and Baby Roulette on April 27, 2003; brothers-in-law Kenneth Choken on December 23, 1998 and George Swan on June 1, 1999, Peter Campeau on March 17, 2007 and Raymond Maytwayashing on February 26 , 2009. A wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at his residence at Lake Manitoba First Nation. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday August 22, 2009 at the Lake Manitoba First Nation School gym with Fr. LeGal officiating. Interment to follow at the Lake Manitoba First Nation cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Lake Manitoba Community Hall. Pallbearers will be Brabant Swan, Jonathon Campeau, Evan Maytwayashing, Tyler Maytwayashing, Fred Woodford, Berry McLean. Honorary pallbearers will be everyone who knew him and all the kids on his bus route. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barry Swan Jr., Russell McLean, Arden Campeau, Norman Maytwayashing, Cameron Edwards, Brenda Halchuk (HCN) for your efforts and care. Thanks to the chief and council, Lake Manitoba School and the community of Lake Manitoba First Nation and everyone for your kindness and support during this difficult time. A thank you to the Ashern and Lundar Ambulance, as well as a very special thank you to the dispatch operator who directed Eleanor how to administer CPR until help arrived.
