Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAXINE KAY MACDONALD (HENTON) April 16, 1938 - August 16, 2009 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Maxine Kay MacDonald (Henton), a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her short battle with cancer ended peacefully with her family by her side at the Neepawa Hospital. Maxine was predeceased by her mother and father Bill and Hazel Henton, brothers, Larry and Ronald, sister Violet, husband Ken and oldest son Larry. She leaves to mourn her children, Norman (Cindy), Sandy (Brian), Dwain, Val (Terry) and Kathy (Jim); her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, Phyllis (Chuck) and Connie (George). Maxine was born in Rosedale Municipality, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg and married Ken MacDonald in 1955 and in the years to follow had six children. Maxine began her job of 25 years at Payfair, working in the meat department, which is now called Sobeys. Maxine loved her sports, was a huge New York Rangers fan and went from listening on the radio as a kid to watching faithfully on television right up until she became ill. She loved her vegetable garden, canning all of her own fresh vegetables. Her love for sports also shone through when she joined the Lakewood Raiders baseball team and became the pitcher. Mom loved the country, taking trips with the whole family every summer back to where she grew up, outside of Neepawa. After the passing of her husband Ken, Maxine made sure she spent all of her spare time visiting her children and their families in Winnipeg, Pinawa, Neepawa and Calgary. In July of 2008, Maxine sold her house on Bedson Street of 40 years and moved out to Calgary to live with her daughter Sandy (Brian), grandson Colten, son Dwain and grandson Cody. Maxine was the most devoted and loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed greatly, but will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Neepawa United Church at 11:00 a.m. with luncheon to follow. Special thanks to Dr. Kelly, the nursing staff and Palliative Care unit at the Neepawa Hospital. Donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation or charity of choice.

Hi Wayne, Yes you have known Mom and Dad and family for a long time and Kathy tried to reach you but had the wrong number. Mom sold her house and moved out here to Calgary. It was very sad and happened so fast. Are you listed in the phone book? If so one of us will call you. From Maxine's daughter, Sandy, my e-mail address is sandysawatzky@hotmail.com - Posted by: sandy sawayzky (Family) on: Aug 28, 2009

We met Maxine when she came to Winnipeg 55 years ago where she met the love of her life, Ken. Wayne & Ken were friends in school & later played music together & we all became good friends. We all settled down & had families but not enough time to visit! We'll remember with fondness, Maxine, Ken & Larry. We'd be pleased to hear from the family. linkon@mts.net - Posted by: Wayne & Joan Link (Family) on: Aug 21, 2009
