KENWARD (KEN) ROBERT JOHN WOOD July 31, 1938 - August 18, 2009 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Husband, Father and Poppa, Ken Wood, on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. He leaves to mourn his wife Mary (nee Lungal). Mom and Dad would have been married 48 years on September 23, 2009. Also left to mourn his passing are children, Ricky (Cindy), Tracy (Dave) and Cindy (Perry); grandchildren: Brandy (Derrick) - who are expecting his first great-grandchild in October; Quin, Conor and Jordan. They will miss his rough/gruff exterior and fun loving ways. Dad's siblings, Deanna (Bob), Sharon (Doug), Keith (Jane) and Gary (Lori) and all of his nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents, John and Viola and his infant brother Wayne. Ken was born and raised in the Neepawa / Cordova area. Dad would often reminisce about the many adventures he would take as a young boy on the farm which was the family home. He carried these adventures with him along with his many loyal companions (most memorable Duke and Buddy) throughout his entire life. Gunner will miss his evening car rides and walks with Ken and Mary. Ken loved nature and the peace that it gave him. Ken and Mary moved to Gull Lake, MB in 1969 where Dad supported his family employed as a truck driver. He later worked on the Pipeline and finally retired from the R.M. of Alexander. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour, MB. Interment will follow in the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Cemetery, Stead, MB. Pallbearers will be Quin Dobson, Ray Byram, Keith Wood, Gary Wood, Perry Tetrault and Dave Critchley. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Ken's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
