Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELISABETH (BETTY) SCHIMKE It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty after a courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, August 17, 2009 at Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg, at the age of 51 years. Remaining to forever cherish Betty's memory are her devoted mother, Elfriede Schimke; her loving sisters, Evelyn Jacks and Kathy Rosato; her brothers-in-law Allan Jacks, and Salvatore Rosato; her nephews Cordell, Don and Enzo; niece Cora, her aunts Nelly, Lilo, Ida, Gisela, Margot, and uncle Horst, cousins Ute, Franz, Ina, Christian, Ellen, Heidi, Uli, Christel, Debbie and Karen, as well as numerous friends and relatives in Europe, and across Canada. Betty was predeceased by her loving father, Harry Schimke, and blessed by her special friendships with Penny Weide, Iva Josselin, Kathy Thomson, Sue Kaplik, and the Deezar family. Betty taught in the Winkler-Morden and St. Boniface School Divisions. She then turned to a successful career as product manager for The Jacks Institute until moving into marketing and public relations with CancerCare. Betty loved the arts and music, her endless fun at Clear Lake, numerous trips abroad, shopping and above all, food! She was renowned for her generosity, her ability to pick just the right gift for everyone, including her favourite doggie, Coda. Betty leaves so many precious relationships with family, friends and neighbours, who adored her impishness and her zest for life. Her eight year battle with cancer was marked by her spunky spirit to beat the odds, time and time again, by seeking strength through love, family, and friends and the help of medical professionals who delivered time and time again a quality of life that enabled Betty to be unstoppable. On Monday, August 24, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Betty's funeral service will be held in the Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Avenue, with Rev. Elizabeth Brown, presider. Interment will take place at a later date. Betty's care was marked by compassion and hope in the most exemplary and professional fashion from Drs. Sylwestrowicz, Robinson, Preneveau (special thanks also to you, Audrey), Dr. Pat Harris and her remarkable team at the Grace CancerCare, as well as Dr. Fiona Crow and her gentle team at Riverview. The family will be forever grateful for the many hands which provided loving care to our Bettylein . Rest in Peace and Tranquility, Little Angel.
