HELEN ROSE OSIOWY November 15, 1924 - August 20, 2009 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our sister and friend Helen Rose Osiowy at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the age of 84 years. Remaining to forever cherish Helen's memory are her brother, John, cousins in Canada and Poland and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Edward and sister-in-law Verna. Her first year teaching was at Wheathill School in Chatfield. From there she branched out to other areas including many years with Winnipeg School Division #1, where she taught Mathematics. On more than one occasion her students would come back to thank her for the good foundation she gave them in Mathematics. Helen's travels took her to Poland, Costa Rica, Belize, Cancun and Canada with the occasional trip to the U.S. Helen had a great love of animals and while she was living in her house, there was never a dull moment as she was surrounded by her family, two dogs, Chico and Buttons and her cat Billy Bob. Helen was known for her kindness and generosity not only to her friends and acquaintances, but to strangers alike. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Gerald Langevin, presiding. Interment will follow in St, Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Cooks Creek, MB. If friends so desire, they may make a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg , MB R3T 0R3, in Helen's memory.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Condolences to John. I am sorry for the loss of your sister. To closest friends and caretakers, thank-you for all you have done. I know you will miss her. It is with much sadness that I hear of Helen's passing. We shared via many phone calls over the years much laughter and giggles and always had so much to share and talk about we didn't want to stop talking. We both wished we lived closer to each other. Helen, you are dearly missed. As always, my love to you, til next time... (cousin) Rina Nowazek, Box115, Heriot Bay, BC V0P 1H0 - Posted by: Rina Nowazek (Family) on: Aug 28, 2009
