Date of Passing: Aug 20, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGIUSEPPINA (JOSEPHINE) BUETI (nee BOVA) Peacefully with her family by her side, after a courageous battle, Giuseppina died on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at the age of 90. Giuseppina leaves to mourn, her son Vincent Bueti (Sandie), daughter Caterina Sotiriadis (George); grandchildren, David, Dinos, Alexander, Santina; sister Maria Cotroneo (Antonio), brother Giuseppe Bova (Francesca), in-laws Giuseppina Bova of Victoria, Antonietta Bueti, Rocco and Gail Bueti, Angela and Francesco Licandro, Grazia and Antonio Spezzano, numerous nieces, nephews and countless family members and friends in Canada, Italy, Australia and the United States. Her dedicated husband of 53 years, Giuseppe, predeceased her as did her mother, father, brothers Francesco, Giorgio, Vincenzo, Salvatore and sisters Ippolita, Fortunata and sister-in-law Filomena. Giuseppina was born in the mountain village of San Roberto, Reggio Calabria, Italy. There she became a seamstress, fell in love and married Giuseppe and opened a small dress making school for young ladies. She left Italy in 1956 with her two children to follow her husband who had come to Canada to work and make a better future for his family. While Giuseppe was the first person from San Roberto to settle in Winnipeg, Giuseppina was the first woman to arrive and together they sponsored many of the others who would later choose Canada as their new home where they worked hard and prospered. A woman with a gentle smile, Giuseppina was noted for her wisdom and kindness to those around her. An industrious person all her life, she had worked as a sewing machine operator in the garment trade for many years at Monarch Wear and Ritchie Company. Later she was employed in the drapery department of Eaton's Department Store. Highly skilled at her craft, she was often called upon to train other workers. Giuseppina's greatest love and pride was her family and providing for them. Her artistic hands made amazing creations from pieces of cloth and yarn. A wonderful cook, she prepared sumptuous dinners for friends and family. A lover of pets, Giuseppina, enjoyed the company of many over the years. A quiet, resourceful woman with great personal strength, she believed in family and the need for higher education for her children to succeed in this new land. She sacrificed much for this family dream. With her husband she saw the fruits of their labour as their children and nieces and nephews fulfilled careers in law, education, medicine, accounting, social work, engineering, pharmacy and business. A devout Catholic of great personal integrity, with Giuseppe she set the standards and beliefs that would guide the newer generations in their adoptive home. The family wishes to thank Drs. Wilfred and Frank Albi for their care over the years, Dr. Frederick Ball, and all the health care providers while she was at home and those especially at West Park Manor Nursing Home. There are many caring angels on earth. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue preceded by a public viewing at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Father Renato Pasinato celebrant. Entombment will take place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens: Holy Angel Mausoleum, No. 1 Hwy. E. and Gavin Rd. The pallbearers will be David Bueti, Dinos Sotiriadis, Alexander Sotiriadis, Vince Cotroneo, Justin Bova, Joe Bova Jr. and Vince Bueti. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the West Park Manor Nursing Home 3199 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3R1X2. We'll miss you and never forget your words to us: I think about you all the time. I want you as close to me as a bee on a flower. O Mammicedda du mo cori, non ti spirdimu mai.
