Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCIS THEODORE CICIERSKI With his children at his side, Francis Theodore Cicierski passed away August 22, 2009 at age 76 at the Russell Hospital after a challenging battle with lung cancer. Left to miss him deeply are his son Ted (Bev), daughter Lauralou, brother Ernest (Stephanie) their children David (Susan) and Christopher, sister-in-law Betty (Bob) Battigelli and their children Deborah Battigelli, Colleen (Garry) Battigelli-Smith, and numerous cherished friends. He is predeceased by his wife Louise (nee Kosterewa). Born on the family farm in Marchwell, SK, Frank completed a BSc and BEd at the University of Manitoba and went on to share his passion for the natural world as a teacher at Miles Macdonell and Murdoch MacKay in Winnipeg and Rossburn Collegiate. In 1965, he married his love Louise and the two eventually returned to Russell where they established their home and Frank started teaching chemistry and physics at Major Pratt Collegiate. Frank completed his teaching career in the early 1970s to focus on the family farm. He took great pride in sharing his land with wildlife. He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman and naturalist, and a consummate teacher in and out of the classroom. Frank's enduring sense of humour never failed to brighten the day even in the most challenging of times. The family thanks the nursing staff and doctors at the Russell Hospital for their compassion, respect and support. Prayers will be said Thursday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Russell. The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Russell Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Frank's memory to Russell Palliative Care - Banner County Health Foundation, Russell Health Centre, Bag Service #2, Russell, Manitoba, R0J 1W0.
