Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSELL TURNER On Monday, August 24, 2009 at Donwood Personal Care Home, Russell went home to be with his Lord at the age of 97. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret in 2006; two brothers, Cal and Vernon and two sisters, Margaret Elkin and Velma Gruenwald. Left to cherish his memory are one son, James (Maureen) of Winnipeg; two grand-children, Colleen (Jeff) King of Ontario, Troy (Coralee) of Winnipeg, and six great-grandchildren, Riley, Cassidy, and Brady King, Emily, Zachary and Ian Turner; four brothers, Stuart, Ross, Roy (Jean), and Morris (Alvina); one sister Joyce Newgard and numerous nieces and nephews. Russell was born on June 19, 1912 in Ridgeville, MB. He and Margaret owned and operated Turner Roto-Rooter in Winnipeg from 1947 until 1969. They later took up residence in Gimli, MB and vacationed in the winter months in Lake Havasu, AZ. for many years. In 2002 they moved back to Winnipeg to reside in Donwood Manor. Russell served faithfully on the board of Elders at Central Alliance Church, Winnipeg for many years and later at Bayview Evangelical Free Church in Gimli. He was known by his friends and family to be a hard worker and a generous person. He will be sadly missed. Special thanks to Dr. C. Duerksen and particularly the staff at Donwood Personal Care Home for their dedication and loving care. His master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your master . Matthew 25:21. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 28 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, with his dear friend, Mike Timgren officiating. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
